Jackie Young has been added to the U.S. Olympic 3×3 basketball team.
USA Basketball announced on Monday that Young would be joining the team after Katie Lou Samuelson “was placed under USA Basketball’s health and safety protocols Saturday.” Samuelson will be unable to participate in the 3×3 competition, which begins on July 23 and runs through July 28.
Samuelson addressed the news via social media, revealing that she had tested positive for COVID-19 despite being fully vaccinated.

Young joins the squad after participating in the 3×3 Olympic Qualifying Team camp in February 2020. The 23-year-old currently plays with the Las Vegas Aces in the WNBA. In her 21 appearances with the Aces this season, Young has averaged 12.6 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.
Young will represent the U.S. alongside Stefanie Dolson, Allisha Gray and Kelsey Plum.
