Florida State’s Jennifer Onyi Echegini, one of the best players in women’s college soccer, is headed to Juventus.
Echegini signed with Juventus on Jan. 4, one day before being named the MAC Hermann Trophy award winner, which is given to the top player in college soccer. It’s the fourth time that a Seminole has won the award, joining Jaelin Howell (2020, 2021) and Mami Yamaguchi (2007).
Echegini was the Italian club’s second signing of the January transfer window. Her contract lasts through the end of the 2026 season.
Echegini would have likely been a top pick in the 2024 NWSL draft if she’d chosen to enter.

Echegini was born in the Netherlands and raised in England, and is a member of the Nigerian women’s national team. During her time with the Seminoles, she helped Florida State to the 2023 National Championship, as well as two ACC Championships and two College Cups.
She ended the 2023 college season with 16 goals, the eighth-highest tally in Florida State history.
