The WNBA has a superfan in NBA star Kevin Durant.
“I pretty much follow all the girls and try to keep up with the box scores and see how they are doing each night and watch as much as I can,” Durant told Insider.
When asked about his favorite WNBA star, Durant conceded that while he is a fan of many players, Connecticut forward Jonquel Jones has captured his attention.
“She reminds me of myself with her length and how she shoots the ball. I’m a huge fan of her,” Durant said.
Jones is a favorite to take home the league’s MVP award, averaging 21 points and 11.1 rebounds per game through the first half of the season.
On the WNBA’s growing popularity, Durant says there is still room to grow the game.
“Once people build up the love for the game, they’ll understand a little bit more,” the Brooklyn Nets star said. “So just watch more, try to take in a game more, and have an open mind when you’re watching the game.”
