Laura Harvey has been named head coach of OL Reign.

On Thursday, the club announced that Harvey would replace former head coach Farid Benstiti, who resigned from his post on July 2.

This is Harvey’s second stint with OL Reign; she previously managed the club from 2013 to 2017. Harvey earned NWSL Coach of the Year honors twice during her tenure with OL Reign, leading the team to back-to-back NWSL Championship match appearances in 2014 and 2015.

After her first stretch with OL Reign, Harvey served as head coach for the Utah Royals during the 2018 and 2019 NWSL seasons.

“Coming back to the Reign, I feel like there is some unfinished business left to do here. I know the club pretty well and some of the players pretty well in regard to what we can do,” said Harvey in a statement made through the club.

Harvey will join OL Reign after the Olympics, where she is currently serving as an assistant coach for the U.S Women’s National Team.
