Amazon’s series adaptation of “A League of Their Own” is on its way, with the first teaser trailer released on Tuesday.

The series also has a date set for its premiere: August 12 on Prime Video.

The show will provide a new twist on the story told in director Penny Marshall’s 1992 feature film of the same name about the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League.

Like the movie, the show will take place in 1943, the year the league was formed. The league started amid fears that Major League Baseball would have to suspend play during World War II, but the AAGPBL extended well past the end of the war, finally folding in 1954.

New characters will be introduced in the adaptation series, which was ordered in August 2020. They’ll aim to capture the spirit of the women who dreamed of playing professional baseball.

Series creator Abbi Jacobson will star in the series alongside Chanté Adams, D’Arcy Carden and Gbemisola Ikumelo. Jacobson is also executive producer of the series alongside Will Graham.

Rosie O’Donnell, who played one of the Rockford Peaches in the movie, is slated to guest star during the first season, according to Variety.
