Letesenbet Gidey shattered the women’s 10,000-meter world record only 48 hours after Sifan Hassan posted the historic race time.

Gidey recorded a time of 29 minutes, 1.03 seconds, 5.79 seconds faster than Hassan’s race two days earlier.

Both runners posted their respective records at the Ethiopian Olympic trials held in the Netherlands. Gidey now holds the world record in 10,000 meters and 5,000 meters.
