Louisville headlines NCAA Volleyball bracket after undefeated season

The NCAA Volleyball Tournament bracket is set, with first-round matchups taking place Thursday and Friday.

For the first time in program history, Louisville enters the tournament as the No. 1 seed after finishing the season undefeated at 28-0 and winning the ACC title.

Defending champion Kentucky, a No. 7 seed, faces a potential matchup with No. 2 Texas in the quarterfinals. Pittsburgh, Wisconsin and Baylor round out the top five seeds, respectively.

The Big Ten leads all conferences with eight teams competing in the tournament. The Big 12 has seven in the field, while the ACC, Pac-12 and SEC each have six.

Penn State, making its 41st appearance, is the only team to have competed in every NCAA volleyball tournament in history.

The tournament will begin with first- and second-round matches from Thursday to Saturday on the campuses of the top 16 teams. Regional play will follow on Dec. 9 and 11 at sites to be announced Sunday.

The semifinals and national championship game will be held Dec. 16-18 at Ohio State University. The semifinals will air on ESPN and the championship match on ESPN2.
