LPGA golfers to play for record-breaking $85.7 million in 2022

The LPGA released the 2022 Tour schedule on Friday, featuring 34 tournaments and a record $85.7 million total purse.

Nine tournaments have announced increases in prize money, with the CME Group Tour Championship boasting a $7 million purse and $2 million for the event winner, the largest first-place prize in professional women’s golf history.

“The stage is set for 2022 to be one of the most exciting years in the history of the LPGA Tour, with the addition of new events, the largest total purse ever, over 500 hours of broadcast television and a collective commitment to being the leading women’s professional sports property in the world,” said LPGA Commissioner Mollie Marcoux Samaan in a statement by the league.

The LPGA 2022 season will kick off in Florida, starting with the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions in Orlando, FL, on Jan. 20.
