A few weeks into Kim Mulkey’s first season as head coach at LSU and the Tigers are on the up-and-up, taking down No. 14 Iowa State 69-60.
Two players scored 20+ points for the Tigers as they earned their first win against a ranked non-conference opponent since 2014. Alexis Morris led the way for all players with a career-high 25 points while teammate Khayla Pointer contributed 20 points, six rebounds and seven assists.
A 24-point, eight-rebound night from Ashley Joens was not enough for the Cyclones to overcome LSU.
Following the win, head coach Kim Mulkey was adequately fired up. She also emphasized the importance of milestone wins like the one over Iowa State.

“We have little milestones,” Mulkey said. “We’ve beaten two teams that are NCAA tournament good, Missouri State and Iowa State. That’s big for this program. It helps us in recruiting and it helps us gain confidence. We’re going to celebrate.”
