The Nebraska women’s basketball team got off to a strong start in 2022, trouncing No. 8 Michigan 79-58 on Monday night for the Huskers’ first win over a top-10 team since 2014.

Nebraska freshman Alexis Markowski had a career-high 20 points to lead all scorers as well as seven rebounds. Sophomore Jaz Shelley, a 2021 transfer from Oregon, added 12 points and 12 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season.

The Huskers dominated the Wolverines from start to finish, taking a 34-21 lead into halftime and never relenting en route to their 10th straight home win.

Senior forward Emily Kiser had a team-high 13 points for Michigan, while standout senior Naz Hillmon added 10 points and seven rebounds.

The last time Nebraska recorded a win over a top-10 team was in December 2014 against No. 9 Duke.
