“Everything about this season has been so unbelievably storybook for (Alo),” Gasso said after the game. “The last at-bat regular season, at home, senior day, what else could she do?
“Hawaii, here we are. Let’s hit a home run in front of tens-of-thousands of family members out there. So just fitting.”
Fellow senior Grace Lyons managed to help cut the deficit in half in the fourth with an RBI that helped sophomore Tiare Jennings reach the plate. From there, Alo launched her 112th career home run and 24th of 2022.
Previously, the Sooners had beat the Cowgirls 7-1 in the series opener and 6-0 to clinch the series and the Big 12 regular season crown.
