Texas A&M standout Haley Lee is transferring to Oklahoma, and she aims to do something big with the Sooners.
Speaking with Softball America, the graduate transfer said she knows earning her place on the roster for the two-time defending national champions will not be easy. But she didn’t want easy.
The utility player left the Aggies as the program record-holder in OBP with a career number of .467. But she wanted more.
“I wanted to do something big and be a part of something big,” Lee said. “So I decided that OU was going to do that for me.”
An All-SEC First-Team selection with a .405 batting average last season, Lee is ready to make a run at the Women’s College World Series.
“I’m there to work, I’m there to grind,” she said. “I’m there to be better and make everyone else around me better.”
She’ll hope to fill the shoes of some big names as well, with Oklahoma losing Jocelyn Alo, Lynnsie Elam, Taylon Snow, Jana Johns and Hope Trautwein at the end of the year.
Oklahoma coach Patti Gasso has been hard at work finding replacements. Michigan pitcher Alex Storako will join the Sooners, stepping in for Trautwein, while Alynah Torres and Cydney Sanders have transferred in from Arizona State.
