The Longhorns are making their first trip to the WCWS finals, and they become the first unseeded team to do so.
“No one thought we’d be here but we proved everyone wrong,” Longhorns starting pitcher Estelle Czech said. Hailey Dolcini was brought in to relieve her in the third inning.
On the flip side, Monday’s late game represented Oklahoma State’s largest blown lead of the season.
“To make three errors was tough to watch and tough to take,” Oklahoma State coach Kenny Gajewski said. “We were trying to win. We just didn’t make the plays.”
Texas advances to play No. 1 seed Oklahoma starting Wednesday night. The Longhorns are coming off of a 7-2 loss to the Sooners in the WCWS on Saturday, but they did hand the Sooners their first loss of the season back in April.
