More women’s basketball games are being canceled due to COVID-19 issues, with both No. 11 UConn and No. 22 Kentucky having conference games postponed due to COVID issues involving their opponents.

UConn’s matchup against Marquette, scheduled for Wednesday, was canceled due to issues within the Golden Eagles program. UConn next plays against DePaul on Friday in their first game since falling out of the AP top 10 for the first time since 2005.

Due to COVID issues within the Auburn Tigers’ program, Kentucky’s game on Thursday was also postponed. It’s the second time this season that a Wildcats game has been postponed due to the virus, with a previous game against Morgan State having yet to be rescheduled.

Kentucky next plays on January 3 versus Mississippi State.

Both the Big East and the SEC will look to reschedule the games in accordance with league cancellation policies. Last week, both conferences announced amendments to their cancellation and postponement policies.

Under the amendments, a game will be rescheduled or declared a no contest if a team cannot play. Previously, a game had to be forfeited and a loss given if a team was unable to play.
