South Carolina proved they’re the nation’s best team on Monday, taking down No. 2 UConn 73-57 in the Battle 4 Atlantis Championship.

Forward Aliyah Boston led the way for the Gamecocks with 22 points and 15 rebounds to secure the double-double. She was followed by Zia Cooke and Destanni Henderson who had 17 and 15 points respectively.
The Gamecocks were slow to get going, trailing 36-33 at the half and finding themselves down by as much as 13 points with 7:57 left in the second quarter.
But they quickly overcame the slow start, outscoring UConn 24-18 in the third quarter and 16-3 in the fourth.
Sophomore standout Paige Bueckers led the Huskies with 19 points and seven assists. Evina Westbrook and Christyn Williams were the only other two UConn players in double digits, with 14 and 10 points apiece.
Freshman phenom Azzi Fudd was held scoreless after a breakout game against USF that saw her finish with 18 points.
The Gamecocks are back in action on Friday against Elon at 3 p.m. ET while UConn will look to rebound against Seton Hall on Friday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. ET.
