Sisters Jaloni and Kennedy Cambridge combined for 39 points and eight steals on Thursday night, as No. 18 Ohio State women's basketball beat Central Michigan 103-36 in Columbus.
Buckeyes Avenge 2018 Ohio State vs Central Michigan Upset
The Buckeyes took control early, turning relentless defensive pressure into easy transition baskets. Ohio State pressured Central Michigan into 44 turnovers and totaled 23 steals as a team.
That on-court agression never allowed the Chippewas room to settle offensively.
Last season's Dawn Staley Award Finalist Jaloni Cambridge led the way with 23 points plus eight assists and three steals. Her sister Kennedy added 16 points with five steals of her own. Meanwhile, Elsa Lemmila finished with 15 points on a flawless 6-of-6 shooting night as Ava Watson and Sydney Mobley added 14 apiece to round out a balanced scoring effort.
Central Michigan, meanwhile, shot just 29.3% from the floor and struggled to find clean looks against the OSU defense. Jailenn Green led the Chippewas with nine points, going 3-of-11 from the floor.
The lopsided scoreline was a far cry from the last time these NCAA basketball programs met in the 2017/2018 postseason. Back then, Central Michigan upset Ohio 95-78 in the second round of March Madness action.
