Arike Ogunbowale's March arrest outside a Miami nightclub was more confrontational than initial reports suggested. Bodycam footage that surfaced this week shows a police officer pointing a taser directly at Paige Bueckers while she stood beside her Dallas Wings teammate.
What Led to Arike Ogunbowale's March Arrest in Miami?
The video, made public Tuesday, showcases the early morning hours of March 5th outside Club E11EVEN. Shortly beforehand, Ogunbowale and several other WNBA players — including Jackie Young and DiJonai Carrington — had been celebrating Mist BC's recent Unrivaled title win.
Ogunbowale's arrest stemmed from an accusation that she punched a club security staffer. She was charged with misdemeanor battery and released after posting a $1,000 bond.
Her attorney, Mitch Schuster, later confirmed the State Attorney's Office chose not to move forward, and prosecutors dismissed the charge in May.

But the bodycam footage paints a tenser picture of the night itself.
Bueckers is seen wrapping her arm around her fellow Dallas guard while a crowd gathers, telling officers, "We got her." Rather than backing off, an officer aims his taser toward her face and warns he will use it. Once Bueckers lets go, however, officers handcuff Ogunbowale and place her in a police vehicle.
Neither Miami PD nor reps for the WNBA players involved have commented on the video at this time.
