Racing Louisville and Kansas City went into Saturday night’s game looking for momentum after both teams left the Challenge Cup tournament without a win.

Instead, the clubs settled for shared points in a scoreless draw.

After absorbing early pressure from Kansas City, Louisville dominated for most of the game, dictating pace and possession.

Despite the offensive pressure, Louisville struggled to put the ball on frame.

With Kansas City and Louisville both unable to execute in the final third, the matchup ended in a 0-0 tie.

Racing Louisville will go on to host the Washington Spirit at home on Friday. Kansas City will stay on the road to face the Houston Dash on Sunday.

The upcoming Netflix feature film about the 1999 USWNT World Cup team has landed a lead, with Deadline confirming on Wednesday that the streaming giant is tapping actor Emily Bader to play star forward Mia Hamm in The 99'ers.

The 29-year-old most recently starred in People We Meet on Vacation, which made its debut at No. 1 on Netflix last week.

Bader previously enjoyed a breakout turn in the Prime historical drama My Lady Jane, which dropped in June 2024.

Calling her role in The 99'ers "a dream come true," Bader celebrated her Netflix casting in her Instagram Stories on Wednesday.

"Growing up playing soccer and being so inspired by @miahamm," she wrote.

Netflix first acquired the rights to The Girls of Summer: The US Women's Soccer Team and How It Changed the World — a 2000 book by Jeré Longman — back in 2020, with the project officially going into development in May 2025.

Known for her directorial prowess on Sirens on Netflix as well as her Emmy and Director's Guild Award-winning work on HBO's Watchmen, Nicole Kassell will direct The 99'ers.

Kassell will work off a script penned by Katie Lovejoy (Love at First Sight, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before 3), Dana Stevens (The Woman King, Fatherhood), and Peter Hedges (Ben Is Back).

Helmed by Liza Chasin from 3Dot Productions, The 99'ers boasts a production team that includes Hayley Stool, Ross Greenburg, Marla Messing, Jill Mazursky, and Krista Smith.

While no timeline for production or distribution are available, Netflix will likely aim to use the film to bolster its coverage of the the upcoming World Cups in light of the streamer recently snagging the exclusive US broadcast rights to both the 2027 and 2031 tournaments.

Upcoming offseason league Project B is making moves, with the global 5×5 basketball upstart announcing Tuesday that it will play in Tokyo in the spring of 2027.

The Japanese capital will host one of Project B's seven circuit-style "tour stops" during the league's inaugural campaign — which runs from November 2026 to April 2027 — with each city showcasing a 10-day mini-tournament as part of a Formula One-style season-long title race.

With Tokyo officially hosting Project B from March 26th to April 4th of next year, the venture will announce its additional destinations at a later date.

"Tokyo sits at the intersection of global culture, innovation, and basketball, with a fan base that truly understands and loves the game," said head of Project B Japan Keisuke Mitsui. "Toyota Arena will be an iconic stage for our athletes and a destination for basketball fans around the world."

Offering multimillion-dollar salaries, Project B is shaking up women's basketball, with big-name WNBA stars like Seattle Storm forward Nneka Ogwumike, New York Liberty center Jonquel Jones, Indiana Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell, Phoenix Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas, and Las Vegas Aces guard Jewell Loyd already signing on.

Project B's men's and the women's tournaments each plan to field 66 players across six teams as it offers compensation that outpaces both the WNBA and Unrivaled — while potentially conflicting with the WNBA's schedule.

The Soccer Tournament (TST) is coming back to Cary in 2026, as the North Carolina-based 7v7 competition dropped the dates for its fourth iteration earlier this week.

After its 2023 inaugural tournament, which included a mix of men's, women's, and co-ed teams, TST will re-up its 16-team women's competition — expanded in 2025 from eight teams in 2024 —alongside its men's edition this summer, running both contests from May 27th through June 1st.

Additionally, TST will again be anteing up a $1 million winners check to entice soccer's top players to take the pitch in Cary.

The seven-figure prize again has the reigning two-time champion US Women coming back, with USWNT alum and incoming National Soccer Hall of Fame inductee Heather O'Reilly announcing in November that the team will return to defend their title in 2026.

"Many of my former teammates with the USWNT will be making appearances, so we can't wait to see you in the summertime," promised O'Reilly at the TST x Cary Kickoff Party before adding a joking "we're not f—ing leaving."

As small-side events grow in popularity, North Carolina has doubled down on keeping TST at WakeMed Soccer Park, the home of the NWSL's Courage.

In October, the state awarded TST a $6.6 million grant to remain in Cary through 2029, anticipating an economic impact from the competition in the eight figures.
