The Chicago Red Stars narrowly defeated the Washington Spirit 1-0 Friday night to secure three points in the NWSL standings.
The game’s lone goal came in the 33rd minute off a Mallory Pugh corner kick. After some jostling in the box, Kayla Sharples nodded the ball toward the goal, where Julia Roddar helped her finish into the back of the net.
