Renee Montgomery and Tina Charles built a foundation together at UConn women's basketball. Now, the former teammates will share a booth as TNT Sports analysts for the 2026 FIBA World Cup, set for September 4-13 in Berlin.
From UConn Women's Basketball to TNT Sports Broadcasting Booth
Montgomery, the 4th overall pick in the 2009 WNBA Draft, spent 11 seasons as a pro before transitioning to media and other business ventures. She became a co-owner of the Atlanta Dream in 2021. Charles, meanwhile, went 1st overall a year later in 2010. She wrapped her playing career with the Connecticut Sun last season.
Together at UConn, the two earned All-American honors and helped anchor one of the program's most dominant stretches. Now, they'll bring that same chemistry to TNT Sports, as the network covers of all 36 tournament games across TNT, truTV, and HBO Max.
"I've spent my career experiencing the game as a player, and now I get to take everything I've learned and translate it for the viewer," Charles said.
"I don't want to just tell somebody what happened. I want to help them understand why it happened and what that player is experiencing in that moment."
The 2026 FIBA World Cup marks a growing investment in women's basketball broadcasting. This year, Montgomery and Charles add two new voices shaped by decades spent at the sport's highest levels.
