Sam Kerr scored her 50th goal with Chelsea on Sunday, and it was one to remember.

Breaking a 0-0 gridlock in the 92nd minute, Kerr slotted in a stoppage-time shot to give Chelsea the 1-0 win over Aston Villa and keep her team’s Women’s Super League title hopes alive.

The Australian striker chested down a long ball from goalkeeper Zećira Mušović before looping it over the Aston Villa keeper, inspiring a thunderous celebration from the Blues.

Chelsea got out to a slow start, but changes from Emma Hayes at halftime buoyed the Blues, with Sophie Ingle coming on at the break, followed by Erin Cuthbert and Jessie Fleming in the 66th minute.

Keeping the pressure up, Chelsea finally found its break in stoppage time to earn three points in the WSL standings.

“That one was for you Chelsea fans,” Kerr wrote on Twitter after the game. “We keep going.”

Should Arsenal win their Sunday evening matchup against Brighton, Chelsea will sit eight points below the Gunners in the WSL standings, with their sights set on dethroning their rivals from the top of the table.
