Simone Biles has exited the gymnastics team all-around final at the Olympics on Tuesday after bailing on the vault and appearing rattled.
Biles, widely regarded as the greatest gymnast of all time, did just 1.5 turns of the Amanar she planned to perform on the vault and nearly landed on her knees. As a result, the United States exited the first rotation more than a point behind Russia.
A 13.766. Don't think I've ever seen Simone get that on vault. And the US is immediately in a hole, leaves an event where they should have run up the score more than a point behind Russia.— Nancy Armour (@nrarmour) July 27, 2021

Biles then left the floor with the trainer. When she returned, she had taken her grips off and and in her place for the uneven bars was United States teammate Jordan Chiles.

It was reported that Biles had her warmup pants back on, but soon after, the broadcasters announced that Biles had been pulled from the competition.
Later on in the broadcast, NBC revealed that Biles’ withdrawal was for medical reasons.
