Dawn Staley just added another top talent to the South Carolina women's college basketball roster. On October 23rd, five-star wing Jordyn Palmer announced her decision to commit to the No. 1 Gamecocks ahead of the NCAA basketball season.
The news came after ESPN's No. 7 prospect turned down Ohio State, UCLA, Penn State, and a long list of other suitors.
Palmer, a 6-foot-1 standout from Pennsylvania, averaged 23.2 points, 13.2 rebounds, and 6.4 assists as a junior. Beyond the high school level, she took home MVP at the 2026 U18 AmeriCup in Mexico. There, she averaged18.8 points across five games as Team USA subsequently won gold.
Palmer Joins Growing Recruitment Class in South Carolina
Now, she becomes the fourth member of South Carolina’s 2027 recruiting haul. She's also the third five-star to pledge to Staley's program in October alone.
Earlier this month, Taylor Brown, GG Banks, and Zaniya Johnson also picked Columbia. Those four commits pad out a roster already shaping up as one of the deepest in women's college basketball.
"I felt like South Carolina was the best option to be coached by the greatest," Palmer told ESPN.
With Palmer in the fold, the Gamecocks' 2027 class is just more proof that nobody out-recruits Staley and her coaching staff.
