Sun to play Storm in inaugural WNBA Commissioner’s Cup

The Commissioner’s Cup championship matchup is set.

The Connecticut Sun will face the Seattle Storm in the title game on Aug. 12.

The Sun secured their spot in the championship with an 84-72 win over the Atlanta Dream on Friday night.

Jonquel Jones led Connecticut with 24 points and added 16 rebounds for her ninth double-double of the season. DeWanna Bonner recorded 22 points of her own.

Friday marked Atlanta’s first game without Chennedy Carter following her suspension over a dispute in the Dream locker room. The second-year guard was averaging 14.2 points per game this season.

Next up: The Sun will travel to face the Liberty in New York on Sunday. The Dream will host the Indiana Fever in Atlanta on Sunday.
