Five years after claiming a silver medal in Rio, Sweden has the opportunity to win Olympic gold after defeating Australia 1-0 in Tokyo on Monday.

The semifinal matchup between Australia and Sweden was hotly contested, with plenty of chances for either side. Just after the half, Sweden’s Filippa Angeldal took a shot from 25 yards out that was deflected. Fridolina Rolfo corralled the rebound and drilled it into the net to put Sweden up 1-0 in the 46th minute.

Australia was able to create some chances late into the game and into stoppage time, but it ultimately was not enough to overcome Sweden, who improved to 5-0-0 in the Olympic tournament.

The Swedes have been in peak form since the beginning of the Olympics, beating the USWNT in dominating fashion to open up group play. They will look to cap it off with the country’s first-ever gold medal when they face Canada in the championship game on Thursday.
