Tatiana Prozorova is in the midst of an almost miraculous run at this week's 2026 Singapore Open. The 22-year-old followed up her stunning upset of No. 3 seed Alex Eala with another hard-fought win, this time against China's Wang Xinyu. The 180th ranked Russian rallied past Xinyu 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 in Friday's quarterfinal match, scoring the first WTA semifinal appearance of her career in the process.
Prozorova Comes From Behind Again in Singapore
But that win took plenty of grit as Prozorova trailed by a set early for the third straight match at the Asian swing tournament. Once again, she fought her way back over three grueling hours at OCBC Arena's Center Court to upset her opponent.
That resilience first surfaced a round earlier, when she overcame a 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 deficit to upset Eala. The win marked her first career victory over a Top 20 opponent. Before this tournament, she had won just three tour-level matches total.
"I just believed in myself 'til the end," Prozorova said after the Eala upset. "I knew that she will fight. I also will be fighting 'til the end. That's what I just did, and it worked."
Next up, she'll face Talia Gibson who upset No. 7 seed Maria Sakkari earlier in the day.
