Three NCAA softball players suffered injuries last Thursday after two jet skis collided during a Texas Tech Red Raiders outing at Lake Ransom Canyon near Lubbock, Texas. The university confirmed, however, that all three will make full recoveries.

Emergency crews responded around 3:38 PM after the collision, which occurred during an event sanctioned by the 2026 WCWS runners-up. One player was transported by ambulance to University Medical Center. The two others made it to the hospital by personal vehicle. All three sustained injuries to their legs and hands, but none considered critical.
The University did not release the names of the player injured but, according to Sports Illustrated, one may have been junior pitcher Jayden Heavener.
Head coach Gerry Glasco offered a short update afterward: "Thank you for all the thoughts and prayers! Glad everyone is okay and recovering well!"
The Ransom Canyon Police Department and Texas Parks and Wildlife are still investigating the incident.

Beyond the immediate concern, the jet ski accident comes during a pivotal stretch for one of NCAA softball's most successful programs. Texas Tech Red Raiders softball reached the Women's College World Series championship in both 2025 and 2026, finishing as runner-up each time.
