With just nine games left in the regular season, Mystics center and WNBA leading scorer Tina Charles will miss three to five of them.

The team announced Thursday that Charles suffered a left glute strain in Sunday’s loss to the Seattle Storm. Sunday’s game also marked the return of two-time WNBA MVP Elena Delle Donne after nearly two years away.

Charles, an eight-time All-Star and the 2012 MVP, is averaging a career best 25.4 points through 21 appearances. That’s almost five points clear of Phoenix’s Brittney Griner, who is second in league scoring with 20.7 points per game.

Charles, 32, is also averaging 9.7 rebounds and two assists per game. Currently, the Mystics are 9-14 and 10th in the league, a half-game out of the eighth and final playoff spot.
