The U.S. women’s national team’s Olympic roster has increased to 22 players.
The change means that alternates Jane Campbell, Casey Krueger, Catarina Macario and Lynn Williams are officially on the full roster for the USWNT in Tokyo.
Krueger and Campbell have significant international experience, making them valuable additions to the roster. The same can be said for Williams and Macario. Williams continued to make noise with the NWSL following the announcement of the initial USWNT roster, leading some to question her exclusion.
Meanwhile, Macario is a player coach Vlatko Andonovski has called “exceptional” and expects to be a staple of the team in the future. The experience Macario gains in Tokyo will only aid her development.
The USWNT kicks off the Olympics on July 21 versus Sweden.
