The U-17 USWNT brought home a championship Sunday, winning the 2024 U-17 Concacaf championship.
Their semifinal win over Haiti helped them qualify for the 2024 U-17 World Cup, meaning that the trophy was an added bonus for the tournament.
The roster for this tournament included a number of young NWSL players, with Alex Pfeiffer of the Kansas City Current and Melanie Barcenas of the San Diego Wave being called up.
Both made major impacts, with Pfeiffer finishing the tournament with six goals. Forward Kennedy Fuller won the tournament’s Golden Boot, finishing with eight goals. It’s not her first in a major competition, with Fuller having won the Golden Boot at the U-15 Concacaf tournament in 2022.
The USWNT blanked Mexico in the championship 4-0, capping off what was a 32-2 scoring advantage throughout the tournament.
The team will now set its sights on the U-17 World Cup in October, having never won the U-17 tournament.
