WAFCON 2026 kicked off in Rabat on Sunday, and the hosts wasted no time setting the tone. Morocco ran past Kenya 4-0 in their Group A opener at the Women's Africa Cup of Nations with a performance that suggested they're ready to make a deep run.

Forward Sakini Ouzraoui Diki broke the deadlock in the 20th minute of the continental tournament opener with a low drive past the goalkeeper. Then, Maryame Atiq doubled the lead eight minutes later, heading in from a corner.
Ibtissam Jraidi added a third before halftime — on another header — before completing her brace just two minutes into the second half.
By that point, the result was well beyond doubt. Coach Jorge Vilda rotated his squad and managed the remainder of the match comfortably.
"It's a good start," Vilda said. "When you start a tournament like this, it means you've had good preparation."

Earlier in the day, Algeria handled Senegal 2-0. Marine Dafeur converted a late first-half penalty before Mélissa Bethi added the second to seal the win.
As a result, Morocco sit top of Group A on goal difference ahead of Algeria. Both teams meet next in what could be a decisive WAFCON 2026 fixture, while Kenya and Senegal look to regroup.
