The WNBA playoffs head to Brooklyn on Tuesday night with the New York Liberty one win from sweeping the top-seeded Minnesota Lynx out of the bracket's first round. After Breanna Stewart poured in 34 points during the Liberty's 91-75 Game 1 rout, the Lynx vs Liberty series could wrap early on the former WNBA champs' home turf.
What Happened in Game 1 of the Lynx vs Liberty?
To send the Lynx packing, New York will need another standout performance from their veteran big. Stewart was nearly unstoppable against Minnesota on Sunday, shooting 11-18 from the field while adding 12 rebounds, six assists, and two blocks.
Her dominance forced both Napheesa Collier and Natasha Howard into foul trouble. The two Lynx stars ultimately fouled out of the game, leaving Minnesota without its interior anchors down the stretch.
Meanwhile, rookie Olivia Miles struggled in her postseason debut, converting just three of 12 shots. Without a sharper performance from her backcourt, the Lynx face long odds in the WNBA playoffs bracket.
Still, Minnesota has proven resilient all season. The Lynx posted a league-best 33-11 record and led the WNBA in points off turnovers. If Cheryl Reeve's squad can limit the free throw disparity from Game 1, they have the firepower to extend this series.
Game 2 tips off at 8:30 PM ET on USA Network.
