Sophia Smith is on a tear, continuing her dominance for the Thorns in the team’s 3-0 win over Kansas City Saturday.
The 21-year-old has been in top form for club and country, with Smith quickly becoming a fixture in coach Vlatko Andonovski’s USWNT forward line-up.
The striker’s solid USWNT showing appears to have carried over to the NWSL regular season, with Smith firing a lethal shot from the corner of the box to put Portland up 3-0 over the Current in the 50th minute.
Smith’s stunning finish joins her three goals from the Challenge Cup, bringing her tally to four goals in all competitions.
