Brittany Lincicome is seven months pregnant with her second child, but that didn’t stop her from impressing on the course at the ShopRite LPGA Classic this weekend.

The 36-year-old mom hadn’t been playing as well as she would have liked heading into the tournament at Seaview Golf Club in New Jersey. At the ShopRite LPGA Classic, though, she improved on her score in every round and finished 9 under for the tournament and tied for sixth overall.

“Finishing (T6) while seven months pregnant, just being out here competing and being in contention, it means the world,” said Lincicome. “I haven’t done that in a while. Just so many positives this week. Just so happy to play so well.”

Lincicome even hung with the leaders for a bit, matching them at 10 under before a pair of bogeys on the back nine set her back. She finished three strokes behind Brooke Henderson, who won the tournament in a playoff with Lindsey Weaver-Wright. Henderson and Weaver-Wright finished at 12 under.

Henderson defied some expectations of her own on Sunday, overcoming a four-shot deficit and closing with a 7-under 64 to force the playoff. She then eagled the first playoff hole to win her first tour victory this year and 11th overall.

As for Lincicome, she plans to play in the year’s next major — the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, which starts June 23 — before taking a step back and welcoming her new baby.

“To go and sit at home and not play, I feel like time is going to go by slower,” she laughed. “I was like, okay, I’m going to go play hopefully next week and through KPMG, and then go home and kind of get everything ready.”
