Izzy Scane is on X Games mode

The Northwestern junior has 81 total points through 10 games despite playing one less game than UNC’s Jamie Ortega, who sits second with 65 points. She also sits atop the NCAA with 64 goals on the season.

Additionally, she outpaces her opponents with an average of 6.4 goals per game which includes:

  • Scoring a single-game program record 10 goals against Rutgers.
  • Having a game-high eight goals in the Wildcats’ definitive victory over Ohio State (21-14) to complete the season sweep and take them to 10-0.

She’s been named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week four times already. She’s also been named IWCLA’s Offensive Player of the Week and US Lacrosse’s Women’s Player of the Week.

All in all: Scane’s performance so far this season has helped Northwestern to a 10-0 start, at least a share of the regular season Big Ten title, and a nation leading 20.80 goals per game.

So yeah, safe to say you should put her name on your list for the Tewaaraton Award if you haven’t already.

No. 1 UNC vs. No. 5 Notre Dame: Saturday, 4/10 @ 3pm ET on ACC Network (ESPN)

Arguably the most anticipated matchup of the weekend, North Carolina looks to continue their undefeated season, with senior Jamie Ortega leading the way with 65 points (48 goals, 17 assists).

The Tarheels are coming off of a dominant 17-6 win against then-No. 2 Syracuse, with Ortega scoring a season-high eight points. That performance earned her IWLCA’s National Offensive Player of the Week and ACC co-Offensive Player of the Week. Meanwhile, Notre Dame is led by senior Samantha Lynch with 32 points (26 goals, 6 assists). They look to continue their recent success, including a win against then-No. 7 Virginia.

No. 3 Syracuse vs. No. 6 Virginia: Saturday, 4/10 @ 11 am ET on ACC Network (ESPN)

No. 3 Syracuse looks to bounce back against No. 6 Virginia after a tough loss to UNC. The Orange are led by junior Meaghan Tyrrell with 44 points (28 goals, 16 assists). Virginia is also looking for a win after a close loss to Notre Dame last weekend. The Cavaliers are led by senior Taylor Regan with 31 points (19 goals, 12 assists). It’s the two’s first – and only – matchup in the regular season.

No. 2 Northwestern vs. Ohio State: Thursday, 4/8 @ 7 pm ET on BTN

Northwestern’s Sunday game against Ohio State was moved to Thursday after their game against Michigan was postponed due to COVID-19 protocols. The Wildcats look to continue their dominance after taking down Maryland 20-10 on Monday and clinching at least a share of the Big Ten regular season title. This will be the two teams’ second meeting after the Wildcats dominated the Buckeyes 23-7 in their season opener.
