Layshia Clarendon will sign with the Lynx, replacing guard Aerial Powers, who is out indefinitely with a hamstring injury.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, Clarendon’s earliest available game won’t be until the team’s Sunday matchup against Connecticut.
Earlier this season, Clarendon was waived by the New York Liberty to make space for Natasha Howard, who had returned from an overseas championship run with her Italian team. (Howard has since suffered an MCL sprain and is out 4-6 weeks.)
Clarendon, the first vice president of the WNBPA, has a career average of 7.3 points per game. Originally drafted 9th overall by the Indiana Fever in the 2013 WNBA Draft, Clarendon joined the Liberty in 2020, recording a career-high 11.5 points per game in their first season with the team.
With the acquisition of Clarendon, the Lynx will look to improve upon their 0-3 start to the 2021 season.
