Rui Machida has signed with the Washington Mystics after helping lead Japan to a silver medal during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics Games.

Machida had a breakout Olympics, setting an Olympic record for assists in a single game with 18 in the team’s semifinal win over France. Throughout the tournament, she averaged 7.2 points, 12.5 assists and 2.3 rebounds.

Currently, Machida is playing in the Japanese Basketball League for the Fujitsu Red Wave. Through 18 games, she has averaged 10.7 points, 8.3 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game.
