Serena and Venus Williams were not included on Wimbledon’s women’s singles entry list, which was released Friday by the Grand Slam tournament.

Serena Williams has not competed since last year’s Wimbledon, where she was forced to retire from her first-round match due to a leg injury.
The 23-time Grand Slam champion could have used a protected ranking to enter the major, and — while unlikely — she still could request a wild card for the tournament. The 40-year-old has won Wimbledon seven times, most recently in 2016.
Venus Williams, who has five Wimbledon titles to her name, last took the court in August in Chicago.
Notably, Leylah Fernandez is also missing from Wimbledon’s entry list after suffering an injury to her foot during an impressive quarterfinal run at the French Open.
Wimbledon is set to kick off on June 27.
