USA Basketball named its 17-player roster for its upcoming training camp, which will take place Feb. 5-7 in Washington D.C.
Following the training camp, 12 of the athletes will be selected to compete in the FIBA World Cup Qualifying Tournament. Those games will be played against Belgium and Puerto Rico and take place Feb. 10-12.
Of the 17 athletes, nine have previously been on Olympic or FIBA World Cup teams. They have a combined 19 Olympic and FIBA World Cup gold medals.
“I’m excited for next month’s camp,” said head coach Cheryl Reeve, who was named to the position in December. “We will have an incredible mix of veterans and USA National Team newcomers, which will be a great starting point for our preparations for the FIBA World Cup. The training camp and games against two very different opponents will give the staff an opportunity to put in the building blocks for the next few years as we look to not only win the World Cup gold medal but qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games.”
Six players on the roster saw action at the Olympics in 2020, including Allisha Gray, Stephanie Dolson and Kelsey Plum, who won a gold medal in 3×3 basketball. Dearica Hamby will see action with USA Basketball for the first time.
