The U.S. women’s national team and the England women’s national team will face off against one another in October at Wembley Stadium in London.

The kickoff time is yet to be confirmed, but the match will take place on Friday, Oct. 7, on Fox Sports 1.

“This is exactly the kind of match we need at exactly the right time in our World Cup preparations so we can test ourselves against a very talented England team,” USWNT coach Vlatko Andonovski said in a statement. “I saw England play live at the Euros, and I’m looking forward to an amazing atmosphere at Wembley and another big event for women’s soccer on Oct. 7.”

England just claimed the 2022 UEFA Women’s Euro title Sunday at Wembley with a 2-1 victory over Germany in front of a record crowd of 87,921.

As a result of the win, England also will take on Brazil in the inaugural women’s Finalissima. Brazil secured the Copa América title with a 1-0 win over Colombia on Saturday. The match between the two teams will take place in Europe as well, though the date and the venue are to be determined.

The USWNT, meanwhile, won the Concacaf W Championship in July and is scheduled to play Nigeria in two friendly matches in September.

The last time England and the USWNT met came in the 2020 SheBelieves Cup. The USWNT secured a 2-0 victory off goals from Christen Press and Carli Lloyd.

A stipulation of the upcoming match is that England must secure its World Cup qualification during the September international window. England has two opportunities in September to earn the point it needs, against Austria on Sept. 3 or against Luxembourg on Sept. 6 should they lose the first game.

If England were to lose both games and not acquire qualification, they would advance to a two-legged World Cup qualifying playoff that is scheduled for October. England’s Football Association and U.S. Soccer would then work on a new date for a future matchup.

“To get a chance to play the European champions in London at Wembley is an opportunity that doesn’t come around very often, so we’re all thankful that the match could be arranged, and we’ll be hoping that England finish their qualifying campaign in September,” Andonovski said.

This will be the first matchup between the two teams to take place at Wembley. For the USWNT, it will be their first game in the stadium since their 2-1 gold-medal win at the 2012 Olympic Games against Japan.

Following the game against England, the USWNT will play another match in Europe that is yet to be announced.
