Utah will be rejoining the league.
The U.S. youth national team may have gotten off to a strong start at the U20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica, but the squad hit a roadblock Sunday in a 3-0 loss to the Netherlands.
The Netherlands’ three goals included a long-range tally from Dana Foederer in the 55th minute.

The team’s first loss of 2022, the result ended a 13-match unbeaten streak that included 12 wins and one draw. The latter came against the Netherlands on June 28 in France.
Japan took home a 2-0 win over Ghana, putting them in front of the United States and at the top of Group D with six points and a plus-3 goal differential. The Netherlands, which tied its first game, is tied with the U.S. at three points each. With the 3-0 win, though, the Dutch team has a plus-2 goal differential, while the United States’ goal differential sits at zero.
The USYNT next plays Japan at 7 p.m. ET Wednesday to close out the group stage, at the same time the Netherlands faces Ghana.
If Ghana and the Netherlands play to a draw, the USYNT can advance with a win against Japan. If the Netherlands beats Ghana, the USYNT will need to beat Japan by at least two goals to advance.
