Alex Morgan was the most-endorsed athlete in women’s sports in 2022, per a new report from SponsorUnited.
Morgan was one of many athletes in women’s sports who grew their brand deal Rolodex over the past year, with deals for teams and athletes growing 20 percent compared to 2021.
The USWNT and NWSL star had 27 endorsement deals between September 2021 and September 2022, among them Coca-Cola, Google and Chipotle. That number didn’t just lead women’s sports — it was also more than any NFL, NBA, MLB, MLS or NHL athlete.
Second on the list for women’s sports was Serena Williams with 26 deals, followed by Naomi Osaka with 23. Other tennis players in the top 10 include Leylah Fernandez (20) and Venus Williams (17), while Lexi Thompson (21) was the lone golfer.
The LPGA outnumbered other women’s sports leagues with 940 brand deals in 2022 – a 30 percent increase over the previous year. The WTA followed behind with a 22 percent increase in endorsements.
The announcement came as part of the 2022 Women in Sports Report, which analyzed brand partnerships across collegiate and professional sports.
