The Los Angeles Sparks struggled offensively on Tuesday night, falling to Las Vegas 79-69 in Tuesday's Aces vs Sparks 2026 WNBA Commissioner's Cup game.
The Sparks never found a steady rhythm, shooting just 30.8% from the field. That stat marks the team's lowest shooting percentage since August of last season.
Still without top scorer Kelsey Plum, the loss moves LA to a 4-5 record.
Rae Burrell Leads Sparks in Record-Breaking Night
With Plum sidelined due to a right ankle sprain, guard Rae Burrell led the offense for the Sparks.
The four-year WNBA veteran scored a career-high 22 points, keeping LA competitive in the second half. After banking seven straight points in the second quarter, Burrell later cut the Aces' lead to seven in the fourth.
But the rest of the Sparks roster struggled to score, shooting 12-for-51 from the floor as a team.
"Shot quality is a direct correlation to your shooting percentage," head coach Lynne Roberts said afterward. "How do you get great shots? You execute, and you’re in the spots you’re supposed to be in. We can’t just say, 'Oh, we don’t have [Kelsey Plum].' We really need to execute."
Meanwhile, the Aces were playing without several key players of their own as Dana Evans, Jewel Loyd, and Chennedy Carter sat out the Commissioner's Cup clash.

Aces Physical Frontcourt Limits Dearica Hamby, Cameron Brink
To compensate, Las Vegas used a larger frontcourt lineup that disrupted LA's offense.
Four-time WNBA MVP A'ja Wilson led the Aces with 25 points, while Jackie Young added 16 points and nine assists. The team's strategy limited the Sparks' primary forwards.
Dearica Hamby, Nneka Ogwumike, and Cameron Brink combined to shoot just 6-for-27, while Brink tangled with Aces forward NaLyssa Smith in the paint. The pair's physical battle earned both players technical fouls during the game.
The Sparks now look to bounce back against the Wings. LA hosts Dallas on Friday at 10 PM ET, live on ION.
