LA Sparks guard Kelsey Plum will miss at least one week after suffering an ankle injury during Tuesday's practice.
The WNBA leading scorer had to be helped off the court by her teammates following the incident, which took place during a five-on-five scrimmage.
According to a team announcement, the Sparks medical staff will re-evaluate Plum next week, officially landing her on the Sparks injury report ahead of Friday's game against the Washington Mystics.
This setback interrupts a historic stretch for the 31-year-old WNBA veteran.
Plum is playing her second season in LA after the franchise acquired her in a 2025 offseason trade from the Las Vegas Aces. Currently, she leads the league with a career-high 26.8 points and 6.3 assists per game. She has also been efficient, shooting 59% from the floor and 49% from beyond the arc.
Plum began her career as the 2017 WNBA Draft's No. 1 overall pick with the San Antonio Stars, before the franchise later became the Aces.
She won two championships in Las Vegas, secured the 2021 Sixth Player of the Year award, and earned four consecutive All-Star selections from 2022 to 2025.
LA Sparks Lineup Shifts Amid WNBA Injuries
The timing provides a slight cushion for LA, as the lineup adjustment lands during a lighter portion of its schedule.
Still, the team faces two immediate road games, first traveling to face the Mystics on Friday before playing the Connecticut Sun on Saturday.
The Sparks will look to protect early-season momentum in Plum's absence, leaning on stars Cameron Brink, Nneka Ogwumike, and Dearica Hamby for an offensive spark.
