WNBA star Brianna Turner is speaking up about her time with the Indiana Fever.
The forward, who played for the team last season, alleged Wednesday that a male staff member was fired for sexual harassment. She additionally said players were encouraged to stay silent about it.
Brianna Turner Reacts to Sophie Cunningham's Transgender Athlete Remarks
Turner shared the accusations in a nine-post thread on X. Her comments came on the heels of current Fever guard Sophie Cunningham's recent remarks on transgender athletes participating in women's sports.
During an ESPN interview, Cunningham maintained she didn't "hate trans" but did "want to protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn't have to go against biological men."
In contrast, Turner argued the organization and the league should focus on protecting its own players first.
"To date there's been one out trans player in the league. They caused zero problems," said the outspoken trans athlete advocate.
"An issue that has caused problems though? Last year on my WNBA team a male staff member was fired for sexual harassment, but we were encouraged to keep quiet about it. That is an issue."
Indiana Fever Respond to Turner's Sexual Harassment Claims
The Indiana Fever responded Thursday with a team statement. However, it failed to directly address Turner's claims.
Instead, the team said that "protecting our players and employees and maintaining a respectful, professional workplace is our top priority." The organization added that it does not comment on personnel matters involving former employees.
Turner now plays for the Las Vegas Aces. It remains unclear whether or not a police report was filed regarding the alleged harassment, or if the league plans to investigate.
