The 2027 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Cup has officially set its 32-nation field. FIVB qualified teams were announced for the August tournament on Monday with USA Volleyball and Canada Volleyball already penciled in as joint hosts.
Italy, meanwhile, returns as the reigning champion after claiming the 2025 title.
Volleyball Teams Qualify Via FIVB Rankings, Regional Tournaments
Beyond those three guaranteed bids, 15 nations earned spots through continental championships, a group headlined by Brazil, Türkiye, China, Japan, and the Dominican Republic.
Another 14 qualified through FIVB world rankings, rounding out a field that spans five confederations. Among that group, Switzerland is the lone newcomer, serving as the only nation without a prior World Cup appearance.
The Swiss may be chasing their first World Cup win, but even veteran teams have extra incentive this time around.
The three highest-ranked nations at the tournament without a spot in the 2028 LA Olympics will earn qualifying berths through the event. That Summer Games pathway raises the pressure on every match from pool play through the knockout rounds.
Competition runs August 20th through September 5th across four host cities, including Montréal, Omaha, Orlando, and Quebec City. The knockout stage then shifts to Anaheim's Honda Center for the quarterfinals, semifinals, and final match.
