Kelsey Mitchell is keeping her options open. After nine seasons in an Indiana Fever uniform, the All-Star guard told reporters during Saturday's exit interview that she plans to "be selfish" about her future as one of the top WNBA free agents this offseason.

That declaration comes after a career-best 2026 campaign in which Mitchell averaged 24.7 points per game, second in the league, while breaking her own single-game scoring mark and the franchise 3-point record. Still, even an MVP-caliber year couldn't shield her from the toll of playing in Indiana's spotlight.
"If I showed y'all my DMs about the hate and all of the stuff that comes with being a professional athlete, but specifically being an Indiana Fever basketball player, it's a lot," Mitchell said.
Despite calling the organization "unbelievable," Mitchell acknowledged that Fever fans have made it difficult to feel at ease. She tied the pressure to the attention surrounding Caitlin Clark, saying her teammates "get a lot of flak just from being on her team."
With free agency opening in late January, Mitchell's next move could reshape Indiana's roster, or leave a nine-year void at the franchise that built her.
