
Ukrainian pair plan show of solidarity ahead of second-round match at Wimbledon
The players are set to play Wednesday.
Tennis star Elina Sviotlina is expecting a daughter with husband Gael Monfils, she announced on Twitter on Sunday.
Svitolina and Monfils, who were married last July, are one of tennis’ most recognizable couples.

Svitolina, currently ranked No. 27 on tour, has won 16 career WTA titles and made two Grand Slam semifinal appearances, both in 2019. Monfils, ranked 21st on the ATP Tour, has won 11 career titles and was ranked as high as No. 6 in 2016.
Svitolina, 27, last took the court in March, falling to Heather Watson in three sets in Miami.
She has been vocal in recent months about Russia’s invasion of her native Ukraine, working with different projects to raise money for those impacted by the war.
The players are set to play Wednesday.
