Interim head coach Carlos Knox will not return to the Indiana Fever for the 2023 season, the team announced Wednesday.

Knox assumed the interim head coach role on May 25 after serving as an assistant upon his return to the organization in December. He replaced Marianne Stanley, who was fired early in the 2022 campaign after a disappointing two seasons in Indiana and a poor start to her third campaign.

The Fever finished the regular season with a 5-31 record and last in the league standings. Under Knox, the squad posted a 3-24 record and ended the year on an 18-game losing streak.

Indiana boasts an impressive rookie class that includes NaLyssaSmith, Emily Engstler, Lexie Hull, Queen Egbo, Destanni Henderson, Khayla Pointer and Rennia Davis, and has a strong chance of adding likely No. 1 pick Aliyah Boston to the roster next year.

The Fever will begin its search for a coach immediately, aiming to find a leader to direct their group of young talent.
