NWSL players and fans are still waiting on the 2023 schedule
The NWSL season begins March 25.
Kansas City NWSL will now officially be known as the Kansas City Current. The club announced the permanent branding, including a new name, crest, and colors, during Saturday’s game at Legends Field.
The team, who played their debut season under the name Kansas City NWSL, unveiled the crest with players donning the fresh design for the game’s second half. Utilizing teal, red and navy colors, the crest shows “KC” with a river graphic and two stars, representing the Missouri River separating the Missouri and Kansas sides of the city.

“Every element is meticulously designed to tell the story of who we are, how we play and what we represent as a club,” said co-owner Brittany Matthews, who chaired the club’s Brand Advisory Council. “I can’t wait to celebrate the championships that will be won with our team wearing and representing this new brand.”
The move comes days after the club revealed plans for a $70 million, privately funded, soccer-specific stadium on the east end of the Berkley Riverfront in Kansas City. The Current will play their home games at Children’s Mercy Park in 2022 as the new stadium is expected to be completed by 2024.
